Audioslave No Slave to California

Despite pressures from American fans, Nu-Grunge super-group Audioslave have officially confirmed they will not be headlining a Coachella stage for 2010. The popular quartet, which fused the political-radicals of Rage Against the Machine with the cathartic yelps of Soundgarden frontman Chris Cornell, rose to international prominence after a critically-acclaimed eponymous debut album. Rumours of a headlining slot at this year's Coachella festival in California now have been officially debunked.

"The reality is that public pressures and money can't bring a band like Audioslave back into play," Mark Garnett, Audioslave's former manager told us, "they're a band that places artistic songwriting and affecting melodies above commercial interest."

There's always next year.
